Dr. Eggman (Dr. Ivo Robotnik) found Shadow’s data in a computer terminal that his grandfather had created. Two months later Dr. Eggman found an encrypted file in Shadow containing information about 8 unique power sources, the Emeralds of Chaos. Eight corrupted data filed formed into the shapes of gems. Each orbiting around a central point, The Master of Chaos. The Master of Chaos (Master emerald) gave each of the emeralds power that could amplify anything. However none of these gems but the master is known to exist. The federation that controls the entire network uses the Master emerald to power the net as well as defenses around the emerald to keep it safe. Dr. Eggman used what little information he had to construct a program to trace the emeralds locations. He planned to get the emeralds and use them to get to the master then use all eight of them to power up shadow and control the word. At least that was the plan until a mysterious net-navi appeared at his home page one day and told him about a program within the master emerald that would take over the world for him. Not willing to risk Shadow he decides to change his plans to free the program inside the Master emerald. After tracing and stealing the emerald from under a small town’s network, Enerjak and his operator (Knuckles and Denny) are sent to prevent another robbery. However to avoid suspicion they decide to act like rookie net battlers outside of their cover. Thus Sonic and Toney defeating them so easily. After robbing the second emerald Shadow heads to the sea-side town aquarium and steals water data out of the central core. Sonic, Toney and Anna (Amy still undergoing repairs) were at the aquarium at the time and attempted to stop Shadow from getting away but were beaten easily. Enerjak arrives just in time to stop Shadow from deleting Sonic, Sonic wakes up to see a heated battle underway sadly he cannot help due to his injuries. Enerjak is defeated and Shadow succeeds in stealing the emerald. The next week the N2 Grand Pre battle tournament begins. After Sonic and Toney fight their way to the top (next to knuckles) and achieving more crosses (Sorry I didn’t really plan this part out much) when guess who? Shadow crashes the party saying that he has found six of the seven emeralds and is about to tear the arena apart when knuckles punched him. Sonic and Toney think that knuckles is going to be deleted. But he and Shadow are during most of the fight. However it was not meant to last, Knuckles is defeated and Shadow gets the emerald. Shadow logs out quickly and heads to the island containing the Master emerald (Angel island). Justin (Tail’s OP) realizes what he is going to do and manages to open a home page link to the island. After fighting his way through security Sonic finds Shadow in a room before the Emerald chamber (Hidden Palace stage). After standing off and defeating Shadow, he turns around to find Knuckles. While the two are talking Shadow runs off into the Emerald Chamber Sonic and Knuckles right on his tail. As Shadow approaches the alter of emerald the 7 emeralds that Shadow possesses fly away from him and sit themselves upon their own much smaller alters. Cracks begin to appear in the Master emerald and a second later the gem shatters. The whole Chamber is filled with steam. Shadow throws the canister of water into the steam. The water contained inside begins to squeeze its way out of the opining and floats to the spot where the master emerald once stood. As the steam begins to disappear a figure can be seen on top of the shards of emerald (Chaos 0). The figure puts its “hands” in the air and the emeralds begin to glow and float in mid-air. A blinding flash of light later and the creature and the emeralds are gone. Knuckles tells Shadow and Sonic that if the Master emerald is destroyed than the entire network would collapse and all navis that were jacked-in would be deleted. Luckily this would take at least 12 hours or so to happen. Toney calls Sonic and tell him that some monster (Perfect Chaos) has appeared in the city Station Square (The location of the N2 Gran Pre) and is to destroying it. Sonic, Knuckles and Shadow jack-out. Sonic and Knuckles return to Toney and Denny (identities revealed) and are trying to come up with a plan when a black shadow cast under them. They look up to find Eggman’s flying fortress, The Egg Carrier. Shadow jacks-in to a modified copy-bot and starts fighting with Chaos but is quickly destroyed. Sonic comes up with a plan after knuckles tells him of the chaos emerald story. Toney’s friends find the 7 chaos emeralds and rendezvous back at the stadium. Placing them around Sonic’s PET. Sonic uses their power to materialize into the real world (turning into Super sonic) and defeats Perfect Chaos. After defeating Chaos the net-navi Dr. Eggman saw at his homepage shows up. Saying her name is Tikal she proceeds to restore the Master emerald and is about to seal Chaos within it again when Sonic interrupts her saying that Chaos will only break out again. Tikal uses the chaos emeralds power to fix the corrupted parts of Chaos. No longer feeling hostile Chaos willingly returns to the Master emerald. The Chaos emeralds are sent away to the net and Knuckles returns the master emerald to the shrine. Without the emeralds power Sonic returns to the cyber world. Within 4 years the city of station square is rebuilt and the N-2 Grand Pre finales are being held.
